Castlewood Community
Golf Course

Enjoy a round at Castlewood’s beautiful 9-hole golf course, located on the southeast edge of town. Whether you're a seasoned golfer or just getting started, the course offers a relaxed and welcoming environment for players of all skill levels.

The course features well-maintained greens, a driving range, and a clubhouse, along with a full schedule of leagues and community events throughout the season.

Memorial Park & Sports Complex

Castlewood’s Memorial Park is home to several community recreation facilities, including:

  • Baseball and softball fields
  • Football field
  • Two playground complexes
  • Horseshoe pits
  • Enclosed picnic area

The park hosts Little League, amateur baseball, softball, and community sporting events throughout the year.

City Park Campground

Visitors can enjoy camping at Castlewood City Park, located near Memorial Park.

Campground amenities include:

  • Six electrical campsites
  • Fire pits and picnic tables
  • Dump station
  • Nearby disc golf course

Swimming Lessons

Seasonal swimming lessons are offered for local youth.

Castlewood Public Library

The Castlewood Public Library offers books and resources for residents of all ages. The library is located on Main Street just west of City Hall and the Community Center.

Nearby Recreation: Lake Poinsett

Just nine miles south of Castlewood, Lake Poinsett is the second largest natural lake in South Dakota and a popular destination for outdoor recreation.

Activities include:

  • Boating and fishing
  • Swimming and hiking
  • Camping and state park access
  • Dining and entertainment

Lake Poinsett is known for excellent fishing including walleye, northern pike, crappie, bass, and perch, and is connected to a 200-mile regional snowmobile trail system.
