American Legion Olson-Reid Post 250

Regular meetings are held the first Thursday of the month (September–May) at 7:00 p.m. in the Community Center.
The American Legion sponsors many youth and community programs including:
- Legion baseball
- Boys and Girls State
- Youth Troop Academy
- Oratory Contest and classroom presentations
- Veteran assistance programs
- Memorial Day and Veterans Day ceremonies
- Honor and Color Guard services for community events and veteran funerals
Community support helps fund these programs through events such as Poultry Party bingo and soup and pancake fundraisers.

The American Legion Auxiliary is an organization for spouses and families of veterans.
Meetings are held the first Thursday of each month at 7:30 p.m. in the Community Center. New members are welcome.
Big Sioux Guys and Gals 4-H Club
The Big Sioux Guys and Gals 4-H Club is open to youth ages 8–18 from both town and rural areas. Meetings are held monthly and parental involvement is encouraged.

Castlewood Arts Council

The Castlewood Arts Council promotes arts and cultural activities within the community. Programs include:
- Community entertainment and arts events
- Reading programs
- Artists in Schools programs
- Children’s theater and youth art opportunities

The Booster Club supports local school and community activities while promoting pride in Castlewood.
Meeting dates are announced in the Hamlin County Republican. New members are welcome.
Castlewood Education Foundation
The Castlewood Education Foundation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to enhancing educational opportunities for students in the Castlewood School District.
The foundation works with alumni, businesses, and community members to support public education through programs such as:
- Innovative Education Grants
- ROSE Award
- Scholarships for graduating seniors
Donations may be made through one-time gifts, annual pledges, memorial contributions, or scholarship funds.

The Castlewood Economic Development Board focuses on strengthening the local economy and supporting community development efforts.

Castlewood Days Committee
The Castlewood Days Committee organizes the city’s annual Castlewood Days celebration, held each year on the second weekend in August.
The committee hosts fundraisers throughout the year and welcomes volunteers and new ideas to help plan the event.

Castlewood Historical Society

The Castlewood Historical Society was organized in 1988 and is dedicated to “Preserving the Past for the Future” by collecting, preserving, and sharing the history of Castlewood and the surrounding area. Membership is open to the public, and new members are always welcome.
The Historical Society also administers the Gaylord Hoftiezer Endowment Grant, which supports the preservation of historic buildings, properties, and sites in Castlewood, with priority often given to historic Main Street buildings. Grant applications are accepted through March 31 each year.
